YHR VET CARE FUNDRAISER

Since last year we have been having a large influx of surrenders from individuals, shelters contacting us about yorkies in need, individuals who have found yorkies, can’t locate an owner, and don’t want to turn them over to a shelter. Sadly, it seems the rising cost of owning pets is having a huge impact on the homeless pet population. As our family of donors/supporters know, we do not turn down a yorkie or yorkie mix in need, no matter the age, medical issues or behavior, as long as we have a foster home available. Our foster pups are thoroughly vetted, including initial screenings, bloodwork, dentals, vaccines, spay or neuter if needed, and heartworm and flea prevention. We further take care of whatever medical condition they have, such as liver shunts or behavioral issues
We currently have 22 foster pups. Our average cost of vetting since January 2025 has been $9,000/month which is the highest we have had for some time and is due to the rising cost of vetting. We also have some pups that are on the schedule for major medical procedures/surgeries which will make our vetting costs rise significantly in the near future. Because of this, we are facing a financial challenge that, at the moment, threatens our ability to continue providing medical care and accepting new foster pups. For the year 2024, our vetting cost was $97,645.58 and our total intake of donations, grants and adoption fees was $88,655.58 so we had a deficit of approximately $9,000. This year is looking the same and we need to be sure we don't go in the red.
We aren’t asking anyone to over extend themselves and give what they can’t. We have learned that just $5 from a large number of donors, sometimes exceeds a large amount from just one donor. And if you wish to help over time, we have a recurring donation choice on our website for those who want to donate monthly, but don’t want to forget.
If you are currently unable to make a financial contribution, we would greatly appreciate your help in spreading the word about YHR, what we provide, and how we help yorkies in need get better and find their forever homes. It takes a village.

About Yorkie Haven
Rescue
Yorkie Haven Rescue Group
was founded in 2006. Our caring volunteers share their many talents to
ensure that all yorkies we rescue from "throwaway land" are safe
and can live their lives in a loving, healthy and safe environment -
a haven where they will be forever loved.
We have a wonderful base
of volunteers located throughout the United States, have no paid staff and are funded
solely by kind donations from the public. Before any rescue is
placed in a forever home, the pup is spayed/neutered, heartworm checked and
made current on all vaccines.
Our Mission Statement
The mission of Yorkie
Haven Rescue is to rescue Yorkie/Yorkie mixes regardless of age, sight,
hearing or other handicaps. We are committed to educating the public,
our adoptees and volunteers about the Yorkshire Terrier Breed. We pledge
to provide a loving and caring environment and keep the pup safe until
a forever home can be found. Our focus is not finding the right
pup for a home, but finding the right home for each and
every pup.
Our Values
We value the lives
of all pups that come into the Haven. We will seek
out medical care to help our pups, and seek out alternative treatments
if traditional treatments do not work - just as we would for our own
family.
We value our volunteers.
We treat our volunteers as family and show them the same compassion
and respect as we would like to receive ourselves. Without our
dedicated volunteers to care for our rescued pups, there would be no
Yorkie Haven Rescue. We are blessed to have them.
We value our donors.
We consider our donors rescuers too. They help with the well being
of our pups by providing for their medical care. If it weren't
for our generous donors, we could not save the many yorkies out there
that so desperately need our help. Thank you for all you do.
